Check out what’s been happening in the cabinet industry the last few weeks from the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association: AKCA Initiates Trade Case Against China On Wednesday, March 6 the American Kitchen Cabinet Alliance (AKCA), made up of cabinet manufacturers, filed a historic trade case at the Department of Commerce and International Trade Commission (ITC). The AKCA is a coalition of kitchen cabinet manufacturers whose mission is to move forward the petition against China’s illegal trade practices at Commerce and the ITC. The AKCA is calling on the Trump administration and congressional allies to join in the fight against unfair Chinese cheating and to create a level playing field for American kitchen cabinet workers. According to a recent study by Hanley Wood, sustainability is one of the top reasons consumers choose a cabinet company. Luckily, the Kitchen Cabinet Manufacturers Association understands this desire and created the Environmental Stewardship Program in 2006 to encourage practices that benefit the environment and communities served by cabinet manufacturers. The ESP goes beyond other environmental programs by taking a holistic approach to certification, holding the industry to high standards for their products, forest sustainability and manufacturing processes. The voluntary certification program provides a tangible way for cabinet manufacturers to demonstrate their commitment to sustainability. Check out what's been happening lately in the cabinet industry: KCMA at KBIS 2019 KCMA members were represented well last week at the Kitchen & Bath Industry Show (KBIS), held in the Las Vegas Convention Center. Our booth featured some great images from KCMA's branding effort and a professional booth designer even stopped by to compliment us on the booth design. We spoke with dozens of attendees about KCMA membership benefits, as well as quality (KCMA/ANSI) and environmental stewardship (KCMA ESP) certifications. We were very proud to see KCMA’s updated branding, certification seals, and new point-of-sale materials displayed in several KCMA member exhibits.
