AKCA Initiates Trade Case Against China
On Wednesday, March 6 the American Kitchen Cabinet Alliance (AKCA), made up of cabinet manufacturers, filed a historic trade case at the Department of Commerce and International Trade Commission (ITC). The AKCA is a coalition of kitchen cabinet manufacturers whose mission is to move forward the petition against China’s illegal trade practices at Commerce and the ITC.

The AKCA is calling on the Trump administration and congressional allies to join in the fight against unfair Chinese cheating and to create a level playing field for American kitchen cabinet workers.

Death Tax Repeal Act of 2019
Recently Senator John Thune (R-SD) and Congressman Jason Smith (R-MO) introduced the Death Tax Repeal Act of 2019. Last month KCMA signed a letter from the Family Business Coalition in support of the legislation. KCMA has previously been supportive of the repeal of the Death Tax and we continue our support and believe the legislation will help America’s family businesses create jobs, expand operations, and grow the economy.

Women in Manufacturing
Last month's International Women's Day brought attention to gender imbalances in the work place. This effort does more than shine light on an important cause, according to a recent piece from IndustryWeek, women's leadership in business can be profitable, "research from Catalyst showed that companies with a higher percentage of women in executive positions have a 34% higher total return to shareholders than those that do not.”

The Manufacturing Institute has implemented a program designed to increase women's participation in the manufacturing workforce - from the factory floor to corner offices. This effort is both to benefit the company and a possible solution to the growing skills gap in the industry.
